Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture (2009)

3 sessions: February - March, March -April, November - December

The trainings on Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture is primarily focused on the development and integration of enterprise applications. The training was conducted as a series of workshops, dealing with subjects like distributed n-tier architectures, business logic models, source data integration, presentation level models and challenges of enterprise informational systems.  Therefore, the course highlighted the software models specific to these enterprise systems.

The 5 weeks training involved theoretical presentations, group discussions, and individual and group assessments. The participants have been evaluated through presentations and final tests. Overall, the training’s purpose eased the participants’ effective understanding of the complexity of enterprise application processes and it was considered a comprehensive guide on enterprise application architectures.

Study Groups for Obtaining International Recognized Certifications (November 2008-to present)

In order to enhance their technical knowledge and subsequently to prepare for certifications, the Fortech team organizes study groups, in which experienced team members train those less experienced:

  • SCJP  Certification study group (team members gather and prepare together for the certification)

  • ISTQB Certification  (group-study and preparation for the exam – mock tests). Apart from this, ANIS organized 1-weekend external training and exam simulation

Internal Workshop based on ‘Modern C++ Design’ book (December 2008)

The workshop consisted in a presentation held by one of our team members, based on the book “Modern C++ Design”. The goal was to introduce the ideas, concepts and overall framework of the book to the other participants from the C/C++ development teams, and to provide them with his own interpretation of the book.

A Set of Internal Hands-on Workshops (September-November 2008)

Very practical and straightforward hands-on sessions on various technical themes.Though relatively short, they were compact and their results were immediate. Among the discusses topics there are:

  • Code Comments

  • Style and Coding Standards

  • STL Containers

  • STL Algorithms

Adobe Flex External Training (2008)

A 2-days training session held by a foreign expert, who offered consultancy on efficiently using Flex.

Presentation on Secure Communication using SSL/TLS (June 2008)

Similar to other presentations on various topics held by team members, “Secure Communication using SSL/TSL” assisted  participants in the understanding of the general framework of communication security in the applications they use.

Teamcenter Engineering Workshop (April 2008)

The Training on Teamcenter Engineering was an internal workshop and it dealt, on the one hand, with Configuration Management and the CMII Model. Basically, the course described configuration management (CM) and ways to improve the reliability and efficiency of existing CM processes. On the other hand, the course focused on Structured Configuration and Process Information, describing how to structure and link design and process-related information in order to optimize its utilization throughout the lifecycle.The purpose of the training was to increase the participants’ understanding and application of Teamcenter Engineering in areas of Configuration Management and Structured Configuration and Process Information.

Presentation on Debugging Windows Application (September 2007)

The  purpose of the presentation was to provide a guide/ tutorial on how to debug a windows application.

New Technologies Internal Training (June-July 2006)

The ‘New Technologies’ internal training provided an insight into Web Development Frameworks and Design Paradigms; the main focus being Spring Frameworks: Spring and AOP, JDBC Framework, ACEGI Security, Spring and EJB etc.
